Footage filmed in the German capital city on Monday shows famous movie characters such as Gollum from The Lord of the Rings and Scrat from Ice Age in the shape of graffiti while holding toilet paper rolls. Drawings of ventilators, people, and monkeys wearing face masks could also be spotted around the city.
After implementing strict social distancing rules, closure of shops and restaurants, and cancellation of classes and massive events since March, Germany finally took its first step into returning to normality, allowing shops up to 800 square meters in size in some regions to reopen, in a first attempt to loosen the measures imposed on public life.
According to the latest figures released by Johns Hopkins University, Germany has 146,398 confirmed cases and 4,706 related deaths reported as of Monday.
